    Top 5 Ways AI is Changing the HR Landscape

    Darwinbox launched its video series #HR2020 last month, featuring 15+ such industry stalwarts who shared their opinions and insights on the top HR trends to watch out for in 2020. We covered the HR trends that will be on the rise and decline in 2020 in our previous blog: The Rising & Declining HR Trends in 2020. However, during these conversations with the industry leaders, we saw that the role of AI in HR became one that was the most dominant. And so we decided the topic deserved a blog to itself! Here are the top 5 areas where AI will impact HR in 2020:

    1. Enhanced Employee Experience: 

    According to a recent study by Gallup on the State of the Global Workplace, 85% of employees are actively disengaged at work. It is no wonder that HR is seeing the value of investing in AI for engagement. Sanjay Kumar (CHRO, Apar Industries) feels that AI is going to enable HR to touch base with a large number of employees at any point of time and on a regular basis, get inputs from them and even make them feel connected to the organisation.

    2. Automation with Intelligence:

    With a combination of automation and AI, machines will be able to perform manual HR tasks, gain insights, and understand processes and deviations. This will not only boost the efficiency and productivity of HR professionals but will also drive innovation. Manoj Sharma (SVP & CHRO, Aarthi Industries Ltd.) thinks AI and technology should be leveraged as much as possible, to take care of routine HR tasks, but at the same time to build systems which are readily available for stakeholders to use for the larger interest of the company. 

    3. Data-Driven Decision Making:

    While HR Tech has enabled organisations to extract real-time data, many are still reliant on manual interventions to extract meaningful insights from this data. AI can enable HR teams to extract insights with ease, but that’s not all, predictive tools can even provide real-time recommendations that could be infinitely valuable to the business or organisation at large. Going forward data-driven decision making will make HR more effective, efficient, consistent and unbiased as a function.

    4. Recruitment Automation:

    Recruitment for most organisations that are hitting hockey-stick growth is among the top priorities of 2020, and cognitive solutions in AI can enable the efficient screening of candidates for your organisation at a fraction of the time. Kamlesh Dangi (Group Head HR, InCred) feels that AI can empower organisations to have a blockchain-based information system for all the applicants who would have been employees of other organisations. This could enable HR professionals to create a scorecard for the potential candidates, thus empowering them to make better hiring decisions.

    5. Customised Learning & Development:

    According to reports, millennial's will constitute 75% of the workforce by 2030, who are neither engaged nor intrigued by traditional learning mechanisms and modules. Organisations need to invest in changing the way they approach learning and development to better suit their dynamic workforce by investing in building personalised learning paths through conversational analytics and AI. Vaibhav Goel (Head HR, Reliance Industries Ltd.) shared that AI-based learning modules like the one implemented in Reliance Industries, looks at the individual’s learning history, their persona, the kind of courses that are available both internally and externally, and then suggests relevant courses to the employees.
